Support Groups
As part of the RUSD counseling program, we run a number of support groups where students have an opportunity to meet with us and three to six peers who have similar needs. Past groups have focused on social skills, behavior management, grief and loss, coping with divorce, and the development of academic organizational skills. The opportunity to hear how peers have dealt with problems similar to their own is often as helpful to students, if not more so, than individual counseling. Groups also represent a chance to connect with peers outside of the classroom, but in a more structured environment than on the schoolyard.
