Consultation with Parents
We are happy to meet with parents when there are questions or concerns about a student's academic or social-emotional development. Besides meeting with parents who have concerns about their children's progress, we also meet with parents to help interpret state test results and to discuss the high school selection and application process, among other topics. No one knows your child better than you do, but we are willing to offer a perspective from our own training and experience working with children over many years.
Another excellent place to have a conversation with the psychologists and with other parents about developmental issues is at the grade-level parent meetings facilitated by Dr. Gold. These meetings take place twice yearly at each grade level, and are a forum to discuss the developmental challenges of children at each age group. It's a great place to get some perspective on what's normal at that age, what other parents are observing in their kids and how they are dealing with issues that arise. Of great importance is the opportunity to meet other parents at this setting.
